Boxer Club of Western Ontario &  Northern Ontario Boxer Club

DID YOU SAY “EXRAVAGANZA”

The meaning of “EXTRAVAGANZA” is an elaborate and spectacular entertainment or production.  That is exactly what the BCWO and the NOBC are striving to present this August 22-25th, 2024 in conjunction with the Elgin County Kennel Club in Dorchester, Ontario, Canada.  We have a Stellar panel of Boxer aficionados judging the two Boxer Specialties; Mr. Diego Garcia and Mrs. Bridget Brown as well as the Boxer Sweepstakes; Mrs. Bonnie Wagaman and Mr. William Alexander.  Our distinguished sponsor for this event is none other than Nestle Purina PetCare Company and we are thrilled with their contribution.  The Club members have done extensive fundraising and are recognized for their selfless contribution.  We are very lucky to have a licensed teeth cleaning employee of Kissable K9 Care who will be at the show site. She is devoting one day to providing this service and more information will follow.  We are also presenting 3 seminars at the show site delivered by our distinguished judges.  Mr. Garcia will demonstrate multiple handling skills necessary to be competitive in the show ring.  He will spend a brief amount of time at the end of his demonstration answering questions.  Mrs. Brown’s topic is entitled “We Are The World.”  Her seminar will challenge your thinking about improving communication among all breeds throughout the world.  Her words will not only apply to Boxers but all show breeds.  Mrs. Wagaman touts the breeding, rearing and exhibiting of Wilma, GCHP2 Cinnibon’s Bedrock Bombshell.  Wilma is the top winning Boxer in the history of our breed with 133 BIS’s.  Bonnie will share their story of joy, trials and tribulations on their journey to the top. Tickets to these seminars will be available online shortly.  We can accommodate 50 to 60 attendees and will presell the seating.  I think we can unequivocally say that this seminar event is the first of its kind in Canada.  The excitement for theEXTRAVAGANZA” is mounting and we are very optimistic that our entry will exceed our expectations.  As I mentioned before, all American entries must register and acquire an ERN # from CKC. It is easy to do. The humans accompanying the canines will need a Passport or Enhanced Driver’s License to cross the border. This may take some time and we are now counting down to the show date with only 4 months to go.

I also wanted to include in this write up a message about the show site written by Elgin County President Mr. Michael Gelinas.

The town of Dorchester is located 15 minutes from London, Ontario, and 5 minutes off the main thoroughfare HYW 401.  It is a lovely small town with restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations. Dog friendly hotels may be found at the Wellington Rd. exit & 401 London.  Please download the premium list for Elgin county from Canuck Dogs.  This will give you specific hotel from which to reserve.  Our shows are held at the beautiful Dorchester Agricultural Fairgrounds.  This year will mark our 24th year relationship with the fairgrounds.  This venue boasts acres of level grass which lends itself well to our needs.  We have excellent tent coverage and large outdoor rings.  We can provide separate areas and rings for our Specialties which helps to make them special.  The main building holds retail vendors, the photographer and the show secretary.  There are large, clean, indoor washrooms with shower facilities open 24/7. The camping will be reserved through Elgin County Kennel Club’s premium list.  Camping is affordable and plentiful with abundant water and power for over fifty units and there is always food available on site. The Elgin County Kennel Club strives to make this weekend relaxing, enjoyable and affordable for all. Our Show is Proudly sponsored by Purina ProPlan.
